cannot use xp defragmentation

Something has happened to the xp defrag tool, it wont defrag, it tells me
that the scan has been cancelled because of an error in file
c:\windows\system32\wbem\reository\fs\objects.map

Any ideas?

That folder is part of 'Web-based Enterprise Management' which is part
of windows.

Probably you have some defective sectors in the harddisk, try running
chckdsk /r
and defrag afterwards.
