Cannot unprotect document

I have a document that has fields in it. Something
happened and I have lost all options to unprotect the
document including the lock symbol and under the tools
menu for unprotect. They are both blacked out. It only
happens in this form. All the rest are fine. How can I
unlock it to edit it?

Try opening a blank document, then Insert/File to pick up
this form. With any luck this will bring in the document
body in an unlocked state.

The other thing you could try is File/Save As as a Web Page,
close, then open the *.htm file you just created, save that
as a Word document and try again.
