Am a new user to XP from Win ME. Just now I tried to do a System Restore to
6/6 but was not able to. Message was that it was unable to restore. I
remember in WinME a certain Critical Update patch was required before
Restore could be accomplished. Went to Windows Update but could not find any
such patch. Admittedly I have not installed any patches yet. What do I have
to do?
TIA

Thanks for your help.
Went to your indicated page kb 302796. It says to go to Start/Control Panel
and then to Performance and Maintenance, but I don't have that. Would that
be any problematic in future? But managed to go to the next step
Administrative Tools in the Control panel and proceeded.

Towards the end it says "Make sure that System Restore is enabled on the
drives where you want System Restore enabled." How do I do that?

And then it says "Try to run System restore in safe Mode". How do I get to
Safe Mode? I couldn't as in WinME by pressing Cntrl key on restart.

Need more help please.
Thanks

"Performance and Maintenance" is not available in the Classic view of
the Windows Explorer.

In the settings you can find a list of drives and their status
regarding SR. Make sure that "Monitoring" is shown for all drives.
And then it says "Try to run System restore in safe Mode". How do I get to
Safe Mode? I couldn't as in WinME by pressing Cntrl key on restart.
