Hi all,

Posted this yesterday and got a reply back that didn't really address the
issue. FWIW, I am a MS partner but thought I would check here for a fix
before I went to the private group for a lengthy resolution. Customer has
no problem with reimaging the computer, nor do I but if there appears to be
a less destructive solution I'm open to suggestions. See previous thread
below.

Thanks
Phil

Previous Thread: (start from bottom)

This connection is over dial up, and another computer in the house can
connect consistently without any problems. I was even connected at the same
time (on both) and saw no issues on the one computer and the issue in the
original post on the other. This problem happens regardless of whether I'm
connected at the office or at home over dial up. So it appears to be an
issue with this computer specifically.

Have you run AdAware or Spybot S&D on the PC with the problem? If
that www.www.microsoft.com.com entry is what you're seeing
displayed, I'd suspect some sort of spyware. You might also want
to run a virus scan with a recent version of a good AV program.

Here are a few links that might be helpful:

I'm the network admin here at work, and I've seen my computer run through
the www.www.microsoft.com.com type stuff when we are having DNS issues, but
like I said, this doesn't seem to be a DNS issue. I'll try running the
Spyware and AV utilities and see what that does.

Thanks,
Phil
