When I right click on my dial-up connections I do not see an advanced tab,
only general, options, security and networking. It is not greyed out, it is
missing completely.

I am using Windows XP Pro, SP2 with all critical updates installed.
I am an administrator of the machine.
I am not using AOL.

I have read through the various postings concerning similar issues and tried
the things suggested there. Namely, I have;

* reregistered netshell.dll. shell32.dll and ole32.dll
* renamed c:\windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl and copied the version in
c:\windows\servicepacks\i386\ into system32 sub directory

If anyone know how to fix it, some help would be much appreciated.

TIA

Hi, Paul -

WinXP Service Pack 2 hasn't been released yet. Can you
insure the machine is running SP2?

If it is, this question would be better addressed in the
SP2 beta newsgroups. If the machine's running SP1 we
might be able to help out here ;-)

Thanks -

Advanced tab missing under Network Connection

If the Advanced tab under Network Connection doesn't show, it is possible
the adapter is not bound to TCP/IP.

Here's my fix- worked for me!
read Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 299357.

Here's the link

In a nutshell, reinstalling the Internet Protocol stack may be the most
appropriate solution. With the NetShell utility, you can now reset the
TCP/IP stack back to a pristine state, to the same state as when the
operating system was installed.

Go to Start, then Run and type this: netsh int ip reset [log_file_name]
Command Samples
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Good luck..It works!
