I have Outlook 2002. It came as a part of Windows XP
Professional. It was working fine until one day I could
not send any email out. It receives email but when I
compose an email and hit send it gives me an error
message requesting me to send the error message or don't
send.

There are no viruses on my machine.

Something changed. It *sounds* like part of Outlook or the system has
become corrupted or something. At this juncture, maybe best thing to do
is un-install Outlook, then re-install it. This will replace files and
reset configuration.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

No it didn't - it came as part of Office 2002. Windows has NEVER had
applications like Outlook in it.

Try detect and repair.Go to Control Panel-Add and Remove Programs. Click on
Microsoft Office (or Outlook if it was installed on it's own) click "Change"
and click on the "Repair" option.

No, it didn't. It may have been bundled by your vendor with your particular
PC, but it's a separately licensed product.

What is the exact text of the error message?

I don't speak for Smiths, and Smiths doesn't speak for me.

I have this same problem (I think it's the same
problem). Outlook 2002, Windows XP, DSL connection
through Earthlink. Two Outlook profiles, two email
accounts. Both use the same smtp server. One profile
works fine. In the second profile, after six months of
perfect functioning, one day Outlook started showing
offline all the time (little disconnected icon in the
bottom right), even when connected. When hitting "send"
the emails go to the outbox but don't automatically
send. Once it's in Outbox, I can force a
manual "send/receive", although every few times I
get "The operation failed." Exiting Outlook and
restarting resolves, the failed operation, but I can't
get the automatic send back.

* "Send automatically when connected" is checked.
* I deleted the email account and recreated it.
* I created a new Outlook profile from scratch - same
problem.
* I used the Repair function.
* I have downloaded all current patches for Outlook 2002.
* And still, the other profile/account is working fine.

Any thoughts?
