I can receive mail but cannot send any. I see multiple users having the same
problem, error number 0x800CCC0F. What is the fix for this? I have been on
with tech support with no luck.....

The error number 0x800CCC0F is irrelevant, we need ALL of the error message,
we need to know your mail provider or ISP if different, to be able to help
you.
Please copy and paste the full error message along with the details of the
mail program in use WM or WLM?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

The message reads: Your server has automatically terminated the connection.
Possible causes include server problems, network problems, or a long period
of inactivity. Subject...,Account:Road Runner
(1);Server.'smtp-server.sc.rr.com;Protocol:SMTP, Port 25, Secure (SSL) No,
Error Number;0x800ccc0f

Still no help from ISP tech support

I am currently running Norton 360, but was running Norton Internet Security.
It has been working fine for a year with this antivirus, so why would it be
a problem all of the sudden?

Thanks,
dc

Antivirus problems can take a long time to surface. We believe it is
related to the number of suspicious (possibly infected) emails received.
So, it would vary from individual to individual.
Norton antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
The only way you can prove or disprove that Norton is the culprit is to
uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more
resistant to the adverse effects of aggressive antivirus products:

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:
