Hi all,

I cannot see some computers in the Windows network. How is that possible?
Two machines in the same office side by side, one is visible and the other
one is not! I cannot even ping that machine! Please help. No SP2 or anything
in both machines. What could be the problem. Any opinions, ideas?

Thanks.

Al,

You really could do better describing your network, and the actual problem, to
give the helpers here a better idea where to start.

Please start now by providing ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, make sure that Format - Word Wrap is
NOT checked!, copy and paste entire contents into your next post. Identify
operating system (by name, version, and SP level) with each ipconfig listing.

Hi Al,
Are both of the machines in the same workgroup? And also, are they
in the same subnet and IP range? I found the same problem as you and
changed the workgroups. It worked for me.

Thanks,

Anthony.

The ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) sometimes causes funny problems like
this. Try temporarily disabling it.
