I have tried so many fixes im about wiped out. I can browse by IP that is not
a problem. I can map it where I need to map with the IP but one of the
programs I need to run (Softdent) requires it to browse the other way. I am
not using a domain or server for that matter. 6 computer network, Windows XP
Pro's, 2 XP Home's and 1 Win 2000 Pro (not server), DLink804 VPN router and
Linksys hub. All other computers see every other computer connected to the
network in My Network Places and Workgroup Computers (Computers near me on
the 2000 box) and can share/map, etc.. All except this new dell laptop. Cant
see anything in My Network Places or when I go to "workgroup computer" I
cannot browse. even if I wait 15 minutes for anything to update. It can
browse the internet, send/receive mail and map by IP without a problem.
browser service started etc etc

I'm looking for possibly the one resource fix perhaps I have not tried.
Please help!

Thanks for your time

Ran Browstat and get error 53. It also told me that another computer on my
network (OP2) was holding browser master. I know that machine has zone alarm
on it. I did all this from home. So tell me, should I go to the office and
first disable zone alarm on that machine, then shut them all down.. and start
the main computer first, then the second one in which I would like the backup
browser to be... then start the rest of the machines? Thanks
