cannot see my COOKIES, TEMPORARY INTERNET, and HISTORY folder

Greetings. C:\Documents and Settings\[My Name]\; it is not there; it also
does not appear when I try to search for them; the only way I do know that
they still exist is that a long time ago I created shortcuts for each of
these folders, that I stored in a folder; when I open the short-cut, it opens
the folder; however, when I then right-click on the shortcut, and then click
on FIND TARGET, these folders to not show up; they do exist in my said
C:\~DEFAULT USER and ADMINISTRATOR folders; also, when I go into CONTROL
PANEL\USER PROFILE, and create a new account, reboot, and then log into it,
again I CANNOT see C:\Documents and Settings\[My Name]. What is wrong, and
how to I correct it? Thank you.

Click Start/Run and run these commands (one-by-one):

attrib -s -h ".\Cookies"
attrib -s -h ".\Local Settings\History"
attrib -s -h ".\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"

browse to another page, all these folders dissappear. I'm using Microsoft
Live One Care Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware. Why is this happening? Thank you.

I did do as you said, and the folders do appear; however, immediately after I
browse to another page, all these folders dissappear in the right side of my
Windows Explorere window, even though they exist in the left column of it.
Also, the TODAY file does not exist in the HISTORY folder. I'm using
Microsoft Live One Care Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware. Why is this happening?

Is your Windows Explorer setup to display folders in 'Details' view for the
right hand pane?

The display of History and Temporary Internet Files folders is
controlled by the (normally hidden) NTUSER.INI file in the user's
profile directory (eg, C:\Documents and Settings\Owner). You must modify
NTUSER.INI to make these folders visible in Explorer. Here's how to do it.

First, you will need to go to the command prompt by running CMD.EXE. If
you haven't modified how CMD.EXE loads, you will be in your profile
directory (eg, C:\Documents and settings\Owner) when CMD.EXE loads. If
not, go to your profile directory using the CD command. Then type in the
following two commands:

attrib -s -h -r ntuser.ini <enter>
debug ntuser.ini <enter>

The prompt will then change to a minus sign. Now type in the following
command: RCX <enter>

and you will get a line like: CX 0082 (ignore the number) and a colon.
Now type in the following number: 14 <enter>

After typing in 14, the prompt will return to a minus sign. Now type the
following two commands:

w <enter>
q <enter>

and you will be returned to the command prompt. Now close CMD.EXE and
restart your system, and you will be able to view all the files that
Windows has been hiding from you!
 
You can do exactly the same as the user suggested previously in the Folder
Options folder. See below:

Go into CONTROL PANEL
Click the VIEW tab
Select SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
Click APPLY then click OK

Note:

There is another level to view & they are the protected operating system
files, but I wouldn't suggest you do this. However, if you want to then on
the VIEW tab of FOLDER OPTION is the HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES
(RECOMMENDED) checkbox which you can uncheck, but this isn't needed to
display the files/folders you need

At least this way is more user friendly

Except that won't work. Try it...you will not be able to view the
CONTENT.IE5 or HISTORY.IE5 folders in Windows Explorer without the
NTUSER.INI hack I described. In addition to the hack, you will need to
do both of the procedures you described above, because these folders
also have the system bit set on them.
 
I didn't work. I tried it. I did as you said. The folders then appear
temporarily, and then appear; but when I browse away from it, and go back to
them, they are gone. I don't know what to do now.

I dont know why this is happening (maybe because of IE7). But you can :

1) Download Process Monitor and see which application/process is hiding them.
2) Create a shortcut to those folders so that you can access them easily.
