Cannot save .gif files

When right clicking and selecting Save Picture As...
..gif files are not saving properly. IE wants to save them
as .bmp files. Also I cannot force a .gif extension, IE
still saves it as a bitmap, but with a .gif
extension...all extra data including multiple frames of
animated gifs are lost. Please help

Clean your Temporary Internet Files (Folder).
If still no joy then have a look at this page for other issues.
