cannot save downlaoded images as .jpg; only as .bmp

After downloading current Windows XP Updates (as of 20/4/04), I cannot save downloaded images as .jpg files. I can only do it as .bmp files. After I right clickthe image, .bmp comes up as default with no other choices. I have to then change it through Photoshop which is proving time consuming. Please help.
 
Time for a Disk Cleanup, your Temporary Internet Folder in particular needs
cleaning out.
Rt-clk C: drive, Properties, Disk Cleanup

Go to Internet Options > general tab
and clear your Temporary Internet files.
