Running Excel 2002, I enter a comment into a cell but
once I save and restore the workbook, the comment is
missing.

Thanks very much.

Bill

I've never seen this.

But is there any chance that the comment is still there, but the indicator was
switched off. Tools|options|View Tab.

If you rightclick on a cell with a comment (er, that you know had a comment), do
you see Insert Comment or Edit Comment?

And you're positive you're opening the same workbook--not saving it in a
different location and reopening the original???

Hi Dave

I tried your suggestion butwhen I restore the worksheet,
I can see the comment box but there is no arrow to the
cell nor a little red triangle. If I selecte the comment,
Excel crashes, sends an error message to Microsoft and
then restores the program.

Thanks

Bill

Yech.

It sounds like your worksheet is corrupted (or just on the cusp of corruption).

If you do the same stuff on a brand new workbook/worksheet, does it work ok?

If yes, you may want to see if recreating that worksheet helps. (Do it in
stages. I'd hate do do all of the work and have it still not work!)

Just curious: Do you use lots of comments? I've really only had one corrupt
worksheet (well, that I can remember). It had tons of comments. When it
started having trouble, I blamed all the comments (and all the formatting
(inherited from a person who liked lots of different borders/fonts/colors!)).

After I recreated it, it's a lot more vanilla than rocky road!
