I am having problems when I try to rename folders in WinXP Home Edition and wonder if someone could please help me resolve the problem?
The problem occurs when I try to rename the folder (a newly created folder or and older one) using either right-click> dropdown menu> 'Rename' or simply a delayed double click and then attempting to rename the folder before applying new name via 'Enter' keystroke. If I create a new folder, it is created with the name 'New Folder' but I cannot then manually rename it. I have tried to copy a folder and rename that, but without success?!
This problem only started a few days ago and I have no recollection of any new installs that would cause the problem at all. The PC is NOT connected to the Internet and has not been for some months now, so I can rule out any unwarranted download from causing the problem.
Please help! I am at present running a scandisk check on the PC after having already run a defrag and hope to reboot the machine again in a short while.
Would very much appreciate help in working this out from someone who has experienced the same problem and successfully resolved it?!
BTW
PC came with WinXP Home Edition pre-installed and do not have copy on disk to overwrite.
Thanks,
alba
