Ok, here's what I'm doing:
---------------------------------
Open up the .pst I need.
Once it appears in the folder list, right click on
the "archive folder" and select "properties for archived
folders".
Next, click on the "advanced" tab/button in the lower
right corner.
rename it there, then click apply/ok and then apply/ok
again.
---------------------------------

The above is not working. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

You don't state your Outlook version, but for OL 2002/2003, you click
Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive and change the name of the file where
Outlook archives messages. This actually creates a new archive. Stop and
restart Outlook. You should now be able to rename to old archive file.

Yeh, works for me too actually. I'm checking this out for
an end user here. He says that he's done it exactly the
way I listed it below for the last 10 months, and now he
cannot. He was unavailable to troubleshoot, but did
respond to my email, so I can't confirm 100% if he's on
the up and up, or what version of office he's using
(though I'm pretty sure it's either 2000/2002.

My pst's in a folder on my d drive are already renamed.
When I add them to my outlook folder list, the
initial/root folder is still "archive folders". You still
need to rename that root folder via the method below.
Cheers,

Jim

Thanks for the reply. It's actually not me, but an end
user here where I work. He wasn't available to
troubleshoot, so I can't confirm his version of outlook
(but I believe it's 2000).

I'm a bit unclear about your instructions. In 2000, you
can name the .pst whatever you want, either when you
archive, or later w/in Windows explorer, but when you open
it up in outlook (file>open>...pst), the root folder (once
it's added to the folder list) is still "archive folders".
To rename that, you need to follow the method I listed
below.

But as it turns out, it's a mute point as I just went over
there and he's able to change the name using the method
below now. Either user error, or temp glitch w/ a file
server (which is where his .pst's are housed)

Thanks,

Jim
