I copied my Start menu Programs folder to my desktop and moved some shortcuts
from it to my desktop. Now I cannot delete the folder. I get an error message
saying that it is part of the OS and cannot be removed. The original file is
unchanged (it still has all the icons in it and they appear on my start
menu). I was able to rename the copy, but Windows still calls it the Programs
folder in the error message. It has a Read Only attribute, but the checkbox
is grayed out and cannot be unchecked. Please don't tell me I have to
re-install windows xp just to get rid of this folder.

Try this. It deletes system files on reboot, not sure if it will work for
folders.

If not you may need to try this instead it should let you access the file
from dos and delete it.

Please note I have these programs but have not tried them yet. If they do
work for you please post here so others will know if it works.
