Your settings look good. I don't see an obvious reason for the problem.
If you are using McAfee or Norton antivirus, try uninstalling it.

I'm chiming in here because I developed the same problem today; pretty much
the same error:

"Account: 'Fishers', Server: 'pop.registeredsite.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19"

Like the OP, I am able to access my email via webmail, just cannot receive
via my Windows Mail client. This is a brand-new problem; everything worked
fine up until late last night. Problem appeared this morning when I opened
the program to check mail.

I've been trying to isolate the problem; given that webmail is working, it
doesn't seem to be an email provider issue or server problem. Given that
the exact same problem occurs even when I tried using 3 different ISP
connections, I don't think it's an ISP issue. I can't help but wonder if
there was a Vista update that disrupted something.

Also like the OP, I'm running AVG with email scanner deactivated.

This has been pretty frustrating.

Have you tried deleting the account, then recreating it?

Are both WM and WLM doing it?

Delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that
account. Something has corrupted it.

Not sure what you mean by "reset windows mail."
If you can't get Windows Mail to work, you might try upgrading to
Windows Live Mail:

Hi, I'm having a problem also with Windows Mail. When I open up Windows
Mail, a dial up message comes up, even though I have DSL and no dial up
addresses are listed. When I go to properties to check the connections, all
the other tabs will open, but when I try to open the connections tab, the
computer freezes. Everything was working well until I had to reset the DSL
router. I can get on the internet to check email, but cannot get into email.
Any ideas? P.S. I'm no computer genius.

i finally figured out a solution. i did a system restore to the day i started
receiving error message. avg did a download activating email scanner. i
deactivated on that date. everything is working good for now.

Gary,

Thanks for the reply... yes, actually, I did try doing so. And both WM and
WLM had the same issue.

I have to confess that I forgot the simplest of fixes -- a cold reboot. And
yes... that fixed it. How embarassing.

Just to follow-up... I did a reboot (not a system restore) and that fixed
the same problem for me... like you, I use AVG and can't help but wonder if
the update it downloaded on the morning of 10/25 screwed things up.
Whatever the reboot fixed (I suspect it was AVG) broke the logjam.

avg must have downloaded us the same thing. glad everything is working.
thanks everyone for all the help. im lucky i know how to turn this thing on,
this site has been very helpful.

That's a very different error. OP's error was can't contact server. Yours
is a timeout and sounds like a server problem. You can, however increase
the amount of time WinMail will wait on the advanced properties of the
accounts.

Your problems are not related to this thread. Please start your own thread.

I have read this whole thread, and have the exact same problem as reese, and
the exact message (with the exception of the account and server values of
course).

I also use AVG free, and it started when the downloader updated, on Oct. 22
for me...I also went back to that date on system restore, and it fixed it,
but it was temporary. If I shut down the computer etc. it does the same
thing. Now I'm stuck because the 22nd is no longer in my system restore list.
I don't know if it is related, but I also have one email that won't delete...

Is there anything you can suggest?

Turn off email scanning in AVG.
Or else, uninstall AVG and do a custom re-install without email scanning.
Or else, uninstall AVG and install Avast! without email scanning
