Hello,

I run an Internet business and after coming home today, I
found out that I cannot access certain Internet URL's
related to my business sites, nor can I ping them or the
server sites. However, I am able to access any and all of
my bookmarked sites on the Web. Only those related to my
business give me the Page Cannot Be Found Error.

Running Windows XP on Verizon DSL connection (they don't
see or have any "router or switch" problems in Texas).
Has anybody ever run across this before? Thanks in
advance for your help.

Ping them by name yourdomain.com or by IP ?
If by IP and it is right then there is a network
connectivity issue or the server is down.
If by name, then it could also be because DNS
system is not resolving names in your domain.

Try at a cmd prompt a
tracert <servername or IP>
and it may let you know where connectivity ends

I performed a tracert to www.rackshack.net and
www.ev1servers.net and I get the message "Unable to
resolve target system name www.rackshack.net". Other
addresses I am able to perform a complete tracert on.

Can you supply a contact number for me for this company
based out of Houston, TX (rackshack.net was the earlier
name, I believe they are ev1servers.net now). Friends in
my same town are able to reach my sites, but they use
cable vs. DSL. Curious if it is just a router or switch
that might be down by which my connection is trying to
make? Do not have any contact info for them. Thanks.

From what you have said, it is a problem with the
DNS server your Tcp/Ip configuration names to be
used by your machine. Others can reach it by name,
as you said.
At a cmd prompt run
ipconfig /all
and compare the DNS server IP to what you have
been told previously to use, or if it has always
been automatic or you are behind such as a DSL router
and it has always been set automatically, then check
with your network services provided for what you
should use for DNS server.
