Cannot opened embedded graph

When I try to open an embedded excel graph in powerpoint
2000, I get the following error:

The server application, source file, item can't be found
or returned and unknown error. You may need to reinstall
the server application.
I am not running any Symantec products
I re-registered the graph.exe
I do not have multiple (graph(x).exe) versions

I have done my homework on this one and to no avail. Any
help is appreciated.

(the article is fro PPT 97/WinNT 4.0, but it won't hurt to try, even for PPT
2000)

very well be the issue.

Re Symantec/Norton, you might try this anyway:

Some NAV versions (CE for example) don't include the Office Plug-In, but a
previously installed version of Norton AV may have left the Office Plug-In
DLL installed, registered and active.

Use Windows Explorer to search for: officeav.dll
If you find it, click Start, click Run and type this, quote marks and all:
regsvr32 /u "\officeav.dll"
then click OK
