Cannot Open Attachments Help!

Hi: My friend who I send mail to claims he cannot open any mail
attachments all of a sudden. I'm pretty sure he uses Outlook Express
that came with Xp so to me it sounds like a mail program only problem
vs. an all system problem. Anyone have idea on what to look for or
what can it be. Only attachments can't be opened up in Xp. Nick
 
To turn off the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus option:
1.. Start Outlook Express.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.. Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus
Protection, and then click OK.
 
Hi Nick,

Sounds to me like Xp with Outlook Express and Sp1 installed. Have your
friend look under the "Security" tab in the "Options" section under the
"Tools" of Outlook Express - uncheck the option "Do not allow attachments
blah, blah, blah......" That should restore access to his attachments.

In Outlook express, tell him, look in Tools - Options - Security and
uncheck the box 'do not allow attachments to be saved or opened which
might contain a virus'

This gets turned on by default when you install SP1 - and overdoes
things. Open and save should have separate settings
