Help,

I'm trying to use Computer Management Console to remotely manage another XP
Pro (SP1) PC on the network, although I can connect to the computer, when I
try to access anything from the Event Log, or Local Users & Groups, I get an
"Access Denied" error Message

I have compared settings on the PC in question to other XP Pro PC's that I
can connect to on the network with no problem

The Administrator Accounts all have the same password on every PC

Is there something that is meant to be configured but I've missed??

Any and all help appreciated

Craig.

But is it a member of the "Local Admin Group" on the PC in question? An
ingenuitive user having "Local Admin" rights can remove the "Administrator"
account from the "Local Admin Group" and it will no longer have access, even
though you can logon remotely.

The Administrator is "As Is" when installed - members of the
"Administrators" group
This same setting works on other PC's but theres something wrong with this
one PC that i cannot fathom out...

every XP machine is its own 'domain'. you have to go to computer 'A' and add
the administrator of computer 'B' with the permissons you wish to set. and
same vice vera....

True, but by deafult every XP PC has an "Administrator" account all with the
same permissions
I've added the same user details to every PC on my network, all with the
same permissions, and on every PC, but this one, I can use "Compuer
Management" to remotely view the event logs, add users, etc

Craig

make sure your account as an administrator in a domain is
not removed from the administrators groups on that remote
machine you are trying to manage.

if you have WinNT resource kit try using the local command
and type "local administrators \\computername" without the
qoute this will enumerate the local administrators members.
