I got a windows xp sp1 PC from a friend but I cannot log in because he did
not give me the password (he forgot it). The PC was in a domain network.
What can I do?

The best practice when receiving a second-hand computer is to format the
drive and clean-install Windows. See this link for instructions:

If you did not receive the operating system and/or cd's for programs
installed on the machine, you'll need to go to the store and buy them.

I purchased a program called: ERD Commander. I highly recommend it. When my
predocessor died unexpectedly (taking all passwords with him), it enabled me
to rename the local administrator password to our file server and my 40 users
that I manage daily. All you have to do is make the CDROM the first boot
device and you're good to go. It's not expensive either. Now, if you want a
free resolution, I know it's possible by using a Linux boot disc also. A
simple google search on that will give you the instructions. Good luck

Everybody runs their shop differently, who knows? If he was around, I'd ask
him why he kept such information to himself and why in the hell he gave all
users Admin privledges?

If every user is an admin then any user could have reset the other users password.

Hello,

I suppose you using Active@ Password changer to reset unknown password.
That is a really useful utility that worked for me before and never
failed. That is a really small and powerful tool, it should definately
help you.
