cannot install windows XP home

hi i need help. i was on microsoft millenium edition, then i went to format my drives and wanted to install windows xp but somehow my com does not read the cd? how come? i changed my bios to boot from cd but does not respond. please help. thanks
 
Are you pressing a key at the message "Press any key to boot to
CD-ROM"?
The message is only briefly on the screen and you need to watch
closely.

Otherwise try another bootable CD.
Is the Windows XP CD original and clean?

i do not see that message. the problem is that my cd player does not read the cd at all. and yes my xp cd is original and clean. just bought it. please advise. thanks

Then try a different CD drive.
The one you are using may be bad.
