I have tried everything! All the KBase info, spware checks, clean install,
BIOS updates, etc.. and yet when I install SP2 after a reboot it freezes on
the "please wait.............." screen. Can someone please help? System
Info:

Foxconn Mainboard 655FX-A01 Bios Version 655AO1 (latest - Nov)
Intel Pentium 4 533 FSB 2.4 GHz
1 GB DDR PC2100 RAM
nVidia Geforce ti4600 video card
120GB Maxtor 7200rpm HDD
XP Pro w/ SP1

If any other info is needed please let me know. Thanks for you time and help
in advance. I am about ready to give up..... I don't thing SP2 is worth all
this trouble!

Do you have a retail bought copy of XP? If you do than slipstream SP2 &
do a clean install again.......

I'm a little confused though with your specs? You say XP Pro w/SP1? If
you have done a clean install are you installing SP1 first than SP2? SP2
can be installed without SP1 present.

I guess you would prefer to speak to a MS support team. The number is

See below the quote from

"Your computer stops responding when you restart to complete the
installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition 2005". i.e. from the MS KB article I suggested to check.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1
Contact your computer manufacturer for an updated version of BIOS that
provides production support for the processor that is installed in your
computer.

Method 2
If you have not installed Windows XP SP2, you can install the Critical
Update for Windows XP (KB885626), and then install Windows XP SP2.

Windows XP with integrated SP1a DOES NOT include this update (fix).
