Cannot hear sound when I turn off my computer

When I turn off my computer, I can no longer hear sound.

My Installation CD is labeled Sound Blaster Live! Value
Digital 1024 Software.

I can reinstall it and hear sound, but if I turn off my
computer, I cannot hear sound.

Under Help & Support, Fixing a problem, I have followed
all the steps using the Sound Troubleshooter to no avail.

Okay.....

I am hoping you mean when you turn off the computer and then turn it back ON
you cannot hear sound... Because when the computer is turned off, you
SHOULD hear no sound. It's off, after all.

It is possible it is conflicting with another sound device - did your
motherboard have a built in sound chip and has that been disabled?
