Hi. I have WMP 9. I cannot hear MIDI files. The play
slider bar moves like the media is playing, the
visualizations move like the media is playing, but I do
not hear any sound. I can hear WAV's and I have tested
this by trying both file formats. I checked and made sure
I have MIDI as a supported file format.
Please help.

Hi'

This "sounds" like a sound -card or -settings problem, are you sure that
MIDI is enabled and the volume slider is set properly, if you use a
Sound blaster Live, or a similar card with SoundFonts, are they set up
correctly.

To test this, try playing the file with another player, WinAMP, or any
other MIDI enabled player, if this is as quiet as WMP9 too, review and
correct your settings, check with the manuals if any doubt occurs.

.
I had this problem awhile back,I use a sound blaster
card which has several devices for MIDI playback all I
had to do was to change which device my sound card used
for MIDI playback.Look under control panel>sounds and
audio devices open this and select the audio tab, under
MIDI default device see if you have an option to change
this.
Good luck

Hi'

The SoundMAX also uses "SoundFonts", or something similar, the one on my
"Asus A7V600" does, to review it's settings use the SoundMAX control
panel, it's installed with the drivers.

And then try the tests mentioned in my previous post again

Have you checked Analog Device's website for known problems, and, or
updated drivers?

Have a look in the sound properties for sound mixer or control May be in
advanced properties there you will find you can add or remove volume
controls for wav, midi.line in.mic ect just make sure there is a
midi/SWSnyth one and that its not muted

It was muted. I wonder how it got that way? I don't think I did it..

Go to Control Panel - Sounds and Audio, on the Audio page check what is
shown in the MIDI playback drop down. Should work with MS GS Wavetable
Synth - it may be set up to use a synth on your sound card and the
drivers for that are not installed

Also click the Volume button there and make sure that the SW Synth (or
other Synth) slider is up, and the Mute box not checked
