Cannot group on fields selected with '*' - bypass?

I'm trying to develop an aggregate query for a table to summarize sales. I"m
using Design View, selecting my table, clicking close, then double clicking
what fields I need. I'm having it show totals and selecting group by, then
I"m typing in expressions, too, and having them group by expression. When I
run the query, though, I'm getting "Cannot group on fields selected with '*'.
" I"m not even using the asterisk to select all of the fields, I'm selecting
my field names like "PARTCODE" and double clicking them. Has anyone else run
across this and have a solution?
