Cannot get IP from DHCP

Ok all. This one has me stumped. I have a computer and a print server that I
moved from the first floor to the second floor and now will not see the
network no matter what I do. I have tested the cable runs and they test out
ok. I have used the cables I was using on the first floor and no
connectivity. I have used new cables on the second floor. no connectivity. I
have taken my laptop and plugged into both ports using the cables I have
there to use on the PC and print server and recieved a good connection and IP
on the laptop. I have changed the NIC cards on the PC and even reinstalled
both drivers for each NIC. So far I cannot get the PC nor the Print server to
connect to the network no matter what I do. Any ideas?

All ideas are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Try manually configuring the PC and print server to use 10Mb speed.
It's possible that they're configured for 100Mb speed and that the
cables to the second floor can only support the slower speed. That's
a common problem with home-made cables that don't observe the proper
wire pairing.

The computer is configured to auto detect and the print server is an
older HP model that only does 10 mb. When I plugged each cable into my laptop
it came up with 100 mb connection. The cables were tested with a Fluke tester
when they were put in. I even put a cross over on the laptop to the computer
and was able to achieve a connection that way. For some reason the computer
is not even detecting a physical connection to the switch when I plug it in.
If I do an IPCONFIG, I get a Media Disconnected with the cable in the card. I
plugged in a crossover cable from my laptop to the PC and got a 100mb
connection. I am still lost.

Any and all help is greatly welcome. Thank you in advance.
