Cannot find server

I have Internet Explorer 6.01. For several months now, I can't use it
because I get error messages like "Cannot find server" or "Page cannot
be displayed. When I try to reinstall it, I'm told that a newer version
of IE has been found and the install aborts. I've deleted every
reference to IE on my computer and I still can't reinstall. In the
add/remove folder, the only IE entry is Q828750 (5.73m).

Since I can use Netscape 7.1, my ISP (EarthLink) tech support told me
that problem is with IE, not EarthLink. I prefer IE to Netscape or
Mozilla. How can I get IE back again?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sinuhe,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
