I am not able to boot to Windows. Have chased thru the KB articles. Have
tried even a total HDD format and reinstall. Recovery console can find
installation but will not get past recovery console screen.

Interresting item: at drive MAP screen I see a 8MB ? partition and a 0MB ?
partition.

Any ideas anybody???

You've probly already checked this, but is there a
non-bootable floppy disk in your A: drive?

* Some history may help us to help you.

* To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or
setup disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows
2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

* Can you expand on this?

I tried your suggestion.
Started machine. Hit F6 to install a SCSI driver. System proceeds to
Setup/Repair/Quit screen. Selected SEtup. F8 at License agreement. Deleted
partition. Display indicated no partition. F3 to quit.
Reboot.
Hit F6 for SCSI driver. Installed it. Proceeded to Setup/Repair/Quit screen.
Hit Enter for setup. License agreement F8. Selected Setup in unpartnd space.
Formatted as NTFS. (C: New 17493 in 17501 disk0 @ID0 on Bus0 on Adpu320)
Asks me to insert SCSI driver. Setup copies files. Initializes. Restarts.
Do the F6 SCSI thing again.System indicates 'Starting Win2k.' Returns me to
the setup/repair/quit screen.
I'm stuck in a loop.

Question: could the SCSI card be bad?

Don't "do the F6 SCSI thing again". Take the CD out during the first restart.

After text mode phase of setup let it boot from hard drive not CD-Rom.
