Hi ,I have scoured these messages looking for a solution to the problem.
I now have over 100 emails in Winmail which I cannot read, delete or move
and have tried every suggestion.

I would like to delete winmail and reinstall Outlook Express, but cannot
find a copy of the program, unless it is bundled with Windoows explorer.

Can anyone help me before i go mad.

ps This is a big thumbs down for microsoft and Vista.

You can't install Outlook Express on to a Vista system
let alone reinstall it.

What happens when you try to run WMUTil?

You can't install OE.
What folder are they in?

If they're in the Outbox, what happens when you try to use WMUtil?

If they're in a different folder,

The prog starts and I click on the necessary it then tellme that the work is
done.
But the emails are still there

PS Thanks for replying

I have locked emails in " Inbox" and "Deleted items" folders
the prog WMUTIL seems to run but the mail is still there

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.
WinMail will work in the background and recover all of the messages that are
really there.
