Well,i dropped a clanger, way back in 2001 I imported a template into the default domain policy, which then produced 1000 and 1202 events everywhere in the network. I later discovered that the two things were linked so I made a New policy called default domain policy which I disabled then copied all the settings in the original. Then I renamed the original and activated the new one, all was fine and the 1000 and 1202 event stopped.I then deleted the original renamed default domain policy!!!The problem now is that although I deleted it and it no longer apperas in the ADUC snapin it still appears in the LDP tool although the sysvol portion is deleted and I can,t delete the other part. Any ideas appreciated.Also are there default security settings for files in the default domain policy out of the box? Many thanks .Ps I really am still "wet behind the ears" so be gentle

Here is an article that talks about the default security settings in the
default domain policy:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=226243

When you talk about deleting the policy in LDP are you talking about
deleting it from the
CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=<domainname>,DC=com
container?

If that is what you are talking about, try going to the policy in Active
Directory Users and Computers, (make sure the option to view advanced
options is selected) navigate to the system container, then the policies
container under that. The policy should be listed there and you should be
able to delete it from there.

Thank you,
