Cannot Delete Items from Other Folders that show Search results

I do a search In/Sent/Deleted folders from my Deleted folder.

When I try to select and then Delete items from Inbox and Sent from the
search results, I get a message saying the item has either been deleted,
moved or access was denied.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. John
 
Version of outlook? Do you have all the latest updates installed for your
version?
 
Outlook 2003. SP2.

My company controls updates, so I cannot do them on my own.
