cannot delete inbox messages

When deleting messages from the inbox they go to the deleted folder but will
not delete from the inbox folder. I cannot find any information or any
setting that will change this. Please let me know what direction I should
take.

So, you're saying that you delete an item from the inbox and a copy gets
placed in the Deleted Items folder? What type of account is it and what
version of Outlook?
 
That is correct a copy get put in the deleted folder, the file that is in the
inbox cannot get removed. The person has a user account but everything was
working correctly until the end of last week. We are using Outlook Express
6.0

Well, now, if you're using Outlook Express, you should be asking your
question in an Outlook Express newsgroup. Outlook and Outlook Express
aren't the same thing. Outlook is part of Microsoft Office. Outlook
Express is part of Internet Explorer. This group deals with the former, not
the latter.
