Cannot Delete History in IE 6 SP1

I don't seem to be able to clear my IE history now I've
upgarded to IE 6 SP 1. If I select delete history in
properties, the history disappears temporarily but always
comes back - its driving me nuts - any suggestions ?

Close IE and use the Internet Options applet in Control Panel to delete
History.
