Cannot Delete a file

Operating System : windows XP Home
System type : Dell - Desktop

I cannot delete a .jpg file frm my "My pictures" folder.
whenever i tried to delete tht file. it copies/mutiplies
itself to 400 copies of th same file. Tried to delete frm
Safe mode. still cannot delete. Tried to delete usin th
Admin Login. No go. i m th onle USER in this computer.

Whn i tried to delete frm DOS prompt, it says "file is one
use, cannot be deleted"

Any solutions.
