Cannot defrag

I cannot persuade defrag to work from any direction - via "Start/Run", via
the disc icon on "My Computer" or via System tools - any idea where I can
find it ??

Yes - I am having a really bad day!

%systemroot%\system32\dfrg.msc is the defragmenter.
