Cannot create playlists

i'm having a problem creating playlists with windows media
player. i was able to create playlists before until my
computer got a virus and it deleted all of my playlists
and will no longer let me create new playlists. I got my
computer cleaned up but media player still does not let me
create new playlists. what can i do?
