My application creates a shortcut under all users startup folder. Its
currently failing for home basic edition of Vista. On all other edition it
works fine.

Even If I go to all users startup
folder[C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup] on home
basic edition and try to create a shortcut it gives a error message "windows
cannot create a shortcut here"

Has anybody faced similar problem? Any solution for this problem?

Why don't you just create a desktop short-cut and cut and paste it to the
area and be done with it?

I tried to create shortcut in other location and then tried to copy the
shortcut to allusers startup folder. But copyfile/movefile fails with access
denied error code. [This happen when UAC is turned on] :(

Right click on Start Orb,select Open All Users
This will give you the necessary permissions to create or past your shortcut.
