Cannot copy file in Windows Explorer

I want to copy a file from CD to harddisk by drag and drop, and also tried
Copy and Paste but got the error:
Cannot copy ..... Invalid MS-DOS function.
 
This is in Windows 2000? Is that the exact error message? Is the target
drive formatted?
