Cannot connect using wireless connection

I have a laptop using wireless (g) connection already. But if I try to set
up my work computer (yes I have local machine and network admin rights)
manually or using broadband connection utility I cannot access a secure
network. I can access any one of my neighbors unsecured networks though.

I have connected using a previous employer's computer so I know it's not
just me entering the incorrect WEP address. I have searched for updated
drivers, updated firmware for the access point, tried switching from domain
name to workgroup but to no avail.

My card in the work laptop is a 802.1 (b,g) so there are no issues there.
Can you think of anything else?

How to fix wireless connection issues

1. Make sure all wireless devices are using the same mode, infrastructure in the most cases.
2. Make sure all wireless devices have the same SSID.
3. Make sure all wireless devices have the same WEP encryption settings if you have enabled them.
4. Make sure you have added the wireless MAC into MAC Address Control if you enable it.
5. Use ipconfig and ping to test the connection. All wireless devices must be in the same IP range.
