I cannot connect to the internet through my network. It says that the network
did not assign a network adress to the computer.

What is your network structure? How are IP addresses normally assigned?
Please go here for help in making a good newsgroup post:

That will give you an idea of the kind of details you should include so
people can give you focused troubleshooting.

I am using a broadband connection and a router.

Maybe you'd like to try again. It is far more efficient for all of us -
including you - to give all information needed in one post. Again, go
here to see the type of details required:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Useful information includes - but is not limited to:

1. Operating systems, versions, and Service Pack levels if NT-based
2. Makes/models of networking equipment
3. Physical structure - ethernet? wireless?
4. Did the connection ever work? If yes, what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?
5. Is the computer virus/malware-free? If you think so, what did you do
to determine this (names and versions of programs)?
6. Firewalls in use.

Etc. Remember that we cannot see your machine from here and you need to
be descriptive in order to get accurate and focused troubleshooting
advice.
