Cannot compact this news group folder

When I finish reading messages in a news group I generally go to the
properties windows, delete all messages and then compact the folder.
However in this news group, I cannot compact the folder. I can delete the
messaged, but when I click on compact, I get the error message that the
folder is in use.

I can do the compact on any other news group folder except this one.

However, if I shut-down windows and reboot, then I can compact this news
group folder. Closing just OE is not enough to be able to re-enable
compacting the folder. I have already tried deleting this news group
folder in the Outlook Express dbx folder and then re-subscribing to it, but
that does not solve the problem.

Does anyone have any other suggestions.

Click on File - Work Offline - File - Folders - Compact all folders - File -
Work offline
