When I attempt to bootup my PC that has Windows XP,
the error message is "non-system disk and disk error.
Replace and strike any key when ready". This message
repeats itself.

I tried to re-install Windowss XP but it tells me that it
cannot install because it cannot access that partition
(The whole drive is the partitioned).

What can I do? I've tried to format the drive with a dos
diskette but it doesn't see the partion. Fdisk doesn't
display the drive as well.

Any suggestions?

This sometimes happens when a user accustomed to installing Windows 9x
and 3.1x tries to do in Win XP some of the things that *used to* work in
these older operating systems.
Boot from the Windows XP CD, choose New Installation (Advanced) under
Installation Type, click Advanced Options, and click the checkbox stating
that you want to choose the drive letter and partition. Reinstall Windows
XP, overwriting the old installation, and you should be fine.
