Cannot boot after downloading MSF drivers

Simon

I recently downloaded some new drivers from the MSoft
upgrade page, since then, I cannot boot the machine at
all, not even to SAFE mode nor from the original (upgrade)
XP disk. I have booted to DOS using NTFS reader (NTFS.com)
and I can read the C drive, so it does appear to be
working ok. With the hard drive disconnected I can boot
successfully using the CD, but then obviously can't do
much else.

The boot sequence fails after checking the memory, comes
back with a plug and play error (STOP 0x000000CA) no
matter what option I choose. This is an Compaq machine,
previously running XP no problems. I recently re-installed
re-fromatted to NTFS, still ran ok until I downloaded the
drivers (nVidia, Creative sound and 2 others I obviously
didn't check carefully enough).

Any suggestions? I would approach MSoft support but I need
my product key which is on XP which I can't...

Thanks

Simon

Simon,

It appears I have probably the same problem. Let me
describe it briefly.

As the computer (XP professional) boots up, it prompts me
to log in either as an administrator or as a guest.
Selecting administration or guest it reads it briefly and
then logs off. I have to reboot again. I am not too
sure how to resolve this problem. Can you help me.

Thanks

Pskadot
