Hello,
I have an Outlook 2000 SP3 user that for some reason I cannot add
Internet Email to their profile. I add it, and rather than display the
configuration dialog like it would normally, it immediately adds "Internet
Email" to the profile, but picking properties for it pops up an error
message "The action could not be completed. The action could not be
completed." (yes the message is in the box twice). When you run Outlook
with this profile - it gives an error message that begins with "Internet
Email Service is not installed properly" and continues suggests to
reinstall Outlook and configure for Corporate Mode (which it was).
Here's what I tried so far:
1. Log on as an Admin and deleted any existing Outlook profiles for the
admin account and created a new one. No luck.
2. Ran a repair install of Office 2000. No good.
3. Uninstalled Office, then reinstalled. Still broken.
4. Ran the "fixmapi.exe" program - didn't work, didn't seem to do
anything.
5. Uninstall Office, run the Eraser2k utility to better remove it, then
reinstall Office. Still no good.
6. Copied inetab32.dll and minet32.dll from a different PC over the
existing ones.
Still having the same problems. Outlook 2000 was configured in Corporate
mode, the user did have an Internet Email account configured before at one
time (might have been on a different PC, but they have a roaming profile)
- can't still why this would affect the Admin account anyway. Otherwise,
user's profile uses a Personal Folder and a Microsoft Mail account - no
Exchange is involved at all. OS is Windows 2000 Pro with all SPs and
updates.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh
