I've created a macro and want to assign a button to it.
When I go to toolbars, customize, macros and choose the
smiley face. Excel lets me drag the smiley face button to
the toolbar but when I release it, there is no button
there. Also, the "modify selection" button is disabled.
In the book that I am working from, this "modify
selection" button should not be disabled.

I made sure the worksheet is unprotected. I also tried to
do this at work and could not. I felt like at work this
may have been disabled.

Where is the option to disable adding buttons? I've
looked in help and can't find anything about it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Connie

Hello Connie,

Are you sure you are trying to put it on an actual toolbar and not just and
empty space in the toolbar area? In Win2K, you will see a little box with a
plus in it if you are over a toolbar and an x if you are not in a spot where
you can add the button.

HTH, Greg
