Hi there,

I have just started to use Acronis to image PC's and I have used
sysprep (reseal) on the hard drives before I created the image.
However, now everytime I run the image on the PC and start up windows
it asks me to activate it, but the code on the base unit now does not
work. Just for testing I tried a couple on other base units and they
still dont work.

Can anyone help me to fix this?

Many thanks

The image was made with whatever comes with the Dell PC but doesn't
contain oem in the code.

So basically are you saying that when I create an image, roll the image
onto the new machine and use the same key as the master image pc,
though would this not just be using the same key and be breaking
license.

Or am I just having a stupid moment and not quite see what your trying
to say?

Many thanks Carey

Cheers for this, I'm in the middle of getting new image up and running
and I'll report back if any issues.

many thanks

Hi there,

I may have the activation bit sorted.

But another problem Im now having is that if I run a machine up take an
image of it and then roll the image out to the same machine (to test
it) the pc is fine and everything is good. However, if I then get a
different PC which is the same model, after the image is done and its
gone through the mini boot the pc just sits there and doesnt login or
provide option to load user/account. Is this because the HAL (hardware
abstraction layer) is different.

If so does anyone know a good way to get around it?

Thanks,

If the machines are the same model with the same motherboard & hardware it
should work fine. To avoid having to worry about loading the correct
drivers I have maybe 5 different images. One image for each group of like
machines.

Well this is what I was kind of going for:

The image created was for a dell dimension 4400. and I tried
transferring the image to another 4400, I thought it was all the same
in regards to hardware though I best check in more detail.

But the problem for me is that I have to often swap hard drives around
in pc's as when I get it back from a user I format the last hard drive
I have and put it in the machine ready for the next user meaning that I
have a sort of rotation policy going on.

Is there not a way around it so I can have it working regardless of
hardware.

But just to clarify I will have a set of images like a 4400, gx520,
gx280, gx260 and so on.

Thanks again.
