Cannot access workgroup computers

Ok... I've checked the knowledge DB and they actually had
what seemed like a probable response. I've checked the
NetBIOS over TCP/IP and it's enabled, AND the Computer
Browser service IS running. I've also checked everything
from my connection to other multiple services and still
nothing to determine this:

I cannot browse the workgroup. All computers are put
onto the network through a single router, which uses
DHCP. This is a laptop running WinXP, completely patched
with all current critical updates. I've got a internet
connection. I can ping other computers (through command
window), even using their computer names or ip address if
I know them. However, if I do a search using 'My Network
Places', or try to browse the computers on the workgroup,
I get this message:
"Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. - The network path was not found."

The "administrator" has no clue why (I've had more
network experience...). Personally, I'd just love to
toss the whole office into a domain and have it regulated
by a DC or two. Anyway - I've got the NetBIOS enabled
over TCP/IP and the service Computer Browser is running.
I've also logged in as Administrator (and a user with
admin access) to still no avail. Any assistance with
this is GREATLY appreciated!

I am having the exact problem. My compuer runs XP and the
others on my network ar Home. I am wondering if there is
some compatability issue we do not know about.

OK I have one better. I am on a domain and i am having
similar problems. My DC cannot see the 2 XP Pro systems
on the networ I have and one of the XP machines can see
itself the other sees nothing--all of which through My
network places.
They see the listed Domain but no resources in it. They
are members and all services are running. I can map
drives to them etc.. They just don't see any other
systems.
Any suggestions.
