DarkAngel

hi all,

this is the first time i have been to this forum. i need
your help regarding a basic network issue.

i have a small network of 2 computers. one is running XP
Home with NTFS and other is XP Pro with FAT32. when i
first setup the network, everything was fine. i could see
and share folders, and internet connection within both
PCs.

for some reason, i had to format PC runnng XP Pro. Now
the problem is that XP Home can see shared folders on XP
Pro and can access them. XP Pro can see XP Home in
Network places but cant access that. it throws an
error: "\\XPHome is not accessible. you might not have
the permission to access the resources. contact your
adminsitrator".

i am sharing internet connection from XP Home to XP Pro
and i can still access internet from Pro and can also
ping both PCs. Firewall is disabled on both PCs and
Simple File Sharing (SFS) is enabled.

i have tried so many forums on the net and have tried
everything possible as suggested in different forums to
fix this problem but so far no success. i am a newbie in
networking so please apologise, if i am using any wrong
terms.

waiting for replies.

I'm having the same problem here. I have 3 computers (1
running windows 98se, 1 running WinXP Home, and 1 running
XP Pro), and my XP Home and 98 systems can't access my XP
Pro system. I keep getting "\\(Computer name) is not
accessible. No permission to access resources." I've
check my NTFS and fileshare permissions, and there all
good. I think it's a glitch with WinXP, or that
something is changing something so minute that my co-
workers and I are just missing it. If I find anything
I'll be sure to post it.

yeah, i am still waiting for someone to help me in this
issue but so far haven't anything from anyone other than
your reply. i have seen that many many people are having
the exact same problem but i could not find anyone with
solution.

i hope if someone could reply this. i am in problem for
more than a week.

I have precisely the same problem. I had a small network that worked
perfectly - now when I try to share data it tells me to contact my network
administrator who I guess is me. I don't know what to do. It is something
that Microsoft have done in a recent upgade. I am locked out of my own
system.

Any Luck???

Guys,

Did you arrive to any solution for this issue.
I am encountering the same problem here. I am not in a position to configure home netwrok between a sony vaio and dell notebook.

Any luck just let me know.

regards,
HIH.
